Bedroom Tax

THREATENED WITH EVICTION  This will be updated when needed and extended to cover Suspended Possession Orders/Warrants of Possession and Bailiffs. Threatened evictions can often be stopped before they get to court if the tenant puts up a defence before this happens.
GLCtoolkitupdated   Updated ‘Toolkit Guide’ for challenging Housing Benefit (Bedroom Tax) decisions from the Govan Law Centre (Scotland) of the council’s benefits service and ongoing referral to an Indpendent Tribunal. This guidance can be applied in England.
This does not change the law but there have been a number of successful appeals which can be copied.
Next March when council benefits decisions are reviewed claimants will have a calendar month to challenge them without having to show ‘good cause’ for late appeals. So its worth thinking about now.
